Housewarming

From the desk of Greg Secker
Tuesday 28th November, 2017.

Today is Giving Tuesday.

They say that giving as an art, and that to be able to do it well, you need to be able to understand somebody, to appreciate what they really want and need,  which allows you to provide them with something that they really want but didn’t expect!
‎
In a few short weeks, we’re going to be inviting our beneficiaries to come and take possession of their new homes, the homes we have built which will keep them safe and secure from the elements.

But what they don’t know is that we want to provide an extra surprise for them!

Most of our beneficiaries lost everything in the Typhoon and they’ve been living in houses built from the wreckage of their old homes.

I’d like you to try and imagine for a moment what that’s like.

Picture yourself with nothing, maybe a metal bowl you’ve managed to acquire from somewhere which is what you cook food in (and what you serve it in as well).

These are people who have literally lost everything.

Do you remember the last time you moved house? How many vanloads and carloads did it take? Boxes of this, packing cases full of that …

… when our beneficiaries move house, most of them will be able to carry what they own with them in a few bags.

So we want to give them the gift of a housewarming pack – that way, they can start their new life with the basic necessities that we all take for granted.

Please join with me this Giving Tuesday, and give the gift of a brighter future to those that need it most.

Plus – if you drop your email address comments box when you donate, we will send you a photo of your gift being given as our way of saying thank you for helping us help them

House-warming Essentials Packs

Starting for roughly the same price as a cinema ticket, our housewarming essentials packs allow you to choose the level at which you would like to contribute to our beneficiaries’ brighter future …

Fatima and sisters

£15 provides kitchen equipment such as spoons, bowls, cups, forks, knives … all the basics that we take for granted, but which our beneficiaries simply don’t have.

£30 provides washing and cleaning equipment, help to keep everything clean and the family safe, including bio friendly disinfectants and cleaners so that the village will not have an adverse impact on its surroundings.

£50 provides basic furniture – table and chairs, something for them to sit around as a family, instead of on the floor. Shelves to store and prolong the life of their possessions, and other essentials to daily life.

£100 provides all of the above – a complete starter pack for a family moving into their new home – a new beginning for parents and the children! An amazing gift to give …
